If you really and truly wanna do that, go ahead. No one should stop you...and no, you're not too young to think of your future. If you wanna do it to get closer to God, go ahead. It will be the best job for you.

Have fun:)

This is a very sensitive issue. Becoming a priest means you wish totally commit your life to God and to do God's work. To keep yourself Celibate and pure. Honestly, at 13, I feel you may want to live life a bit before you make this decision. I am not saying in anyway that becoming a priest is not a worthy, fulfilling way to spend your life, I am just saying a decision like this should be made by a mature mind and spirit. You do not have to be a priest to be close to God..all you need to do is follow the commandments and live your life through his word.

There is no need to become a priest, because there is no need for clergy.

In centuries past, most of the world couldn't read, therefore they couldn't read the Bible. They needed priests to read it form them and to tell them what it means. This came in the form of Catechsim and homilies.

Now that education is more and more universal, more people can read, therefore they don't need a priest to read and interpret for them. People can read the Bible, as well as church history, its laws. Biblical commentaries, ancient languages and how they were used in the Bible, etc. Man, from the crib to the grave, has the capacity and the obligation to become educated, to gain knowledge.

Besides, we are each ultimately responsible for our own spiritual development/cultivation. Rely on no priest, rely upon God alone, God and His scriptures. Read, read, read. Read biblical commentaries, read church history, read anything you can to learn what God wants from you. And if you want to do God's work, do it, yes. However, there is no need to become a priest. God never commands that we deny ourselves His gift of holy matrimony. It never says in the Bible that marriage is forbidden, and God created marriage so therefore it's good, and God gave you the natural liking for females (I presume, lol), so there's no need to deny yourself.

God bless!

for many priest, the priesthood, destoys their faith in god. and at the age of thirteen I would stay away from siminaries and priest if,you don't want your faith destroyed in a horrible way.

Catechism Stunts Minds

Teaching the Roman Catholic catechism to primary-school students “hinders intelligence from coming into play and its development is slowed,” asserted Serge Larivee of the University of Montreal in a recent interview. According to the Toronto Star, Larivee, editor of La Revue Canadienne de Psycho-Pedagogie, based his conclusions on about 100 recently published research papers. Regarding the claim that such instruction will “make the children enter into a living, personal relationship with each divine personage (of the trinity doctrine),” Larivee asked: “Have you ever tried, in a non-abstract way, to enter into a living and personal relationship with three invisible persons that make up one?”

The confusion and hindrance of mind resulting from parroting Church doctrine and dogmas are in sharp contrast to the benefits that come from learning based on God’s Word, the Bible. “The reminder of Jehovah is trustworthy, making the inexperienced one wise,” says the psalmist. And, with the acquiring of the “knowledge of God, . . . thinking ability itself will keep guard over you, discernment itself will safeguard you.” (Psalm 19:7; Proverbs 2:5-11) But, when the religious leaders themselves turn their backs on the Bible and teach human tradition and philosophy instead, what can they expect to impart to others, young or old? “Look! They have rejected the very word of Jehovah, and what wisdom do they have?”—Jeremiah 8:9.

It sounds like a good choice but you have a little time before you need to select a career. Meanwhile talk to some priest and learn all you can.

It's your decision, but you're a bit too young to know what you're going to be. Wait a few years, and if you still want to be a priest, then go for it.

If it's what God calls you to do then nothing will stop you to do God's will. Though there might be tough parts, but if it's God's plan for you then it will come to pass. God Bless!
