My bf mom called this morning and said she was coming over to meet me. My bf and I have been friends for a long time and we liked each other alot before and now we are going out officially now. his mom never liked me and I have to make this dinner perfect. The thing is I don't know how to cook all that well. What should I do? Does anyone have any ideas. I just don't know where to start. So any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Go to foodtv. com they have great recipies for dinner guests. They also tell you how to cook it. Use candles and dim lights at dinner, that always relaxes the mood, A bottle of wine. You will never be perfect so stop excepting to be. Don't engage in any type of argument with her. Respect her opinions, but don't argue you point, you already know what it is and it isn't your job to convince her. Telling people what we are doing or showing them what we are doing will eventually let them warm to us. Have fun and come up with some interesting topics for dinner conversation. Do the dinner in seperate courses, that shows that you are directing the dinner for conversation and relaxation. Put on soft music really low. Have fun and laugh, don't try too hard Good luck.

OK, something I do when I can't do something is try to look like I can. What you should do is go buy some frozen corn on the cob. (you boil corn on the cob for about 9-11 minutes). Buy those bisquits that you pop out of the can and some honey. Last, get a box of fried chicken made by Banquet. You have an instant dinner. Everyone likes KFC.

Also, don't worry about the mom not liking you. I know that sounds impossible but you are just giving her more power over you by worrying about it. My mother in law loved me when she first met me and now we don't get along much at all because I didn't let her control our relationship or my husband. It is possible to get along with mom without actually liking each other.
Good luck.

A good dinner is not going to make her like you so don't stress over it.
Get Chinese take-out or order pizzas.
Just tell her you want to talk and spend time with her so fussing over a big meal was impractical.
Moms worry about sons (I have 3) and that the girl is not going to take care of them the way she would.
Once she finds out that you love her son and take good care of him (and HE you), she will ease up if she is a normal Mom. If she is a shrew and likes to hate people - nothing will ever be good enough for her so don't even try. Best of luck!

Seek the help of a caterer then ask your bf to tell his mom you just remembered you have to leave immediately for a job interview and won't be back 'til Spring. Or Tuesday.
Seriously - do your best and smile a lot.

Take them out to eat and be polite, your not dating the parents, but always be respectful. You might find you really like them, but above all don't ever share any of your personal details with them, after all that's their Son and they think he perfect. If you want to cook something, put a pork loin in the slow cooker can fail, with mashed potatoes and veggie and rolls your good to go.

Take out is always a good thing, but here is a few links with simple recipes.

Just tell them you are no expert chef, but you did your best. If they aren't stuck up you will be ok.

Order a premade meal from a decent restaurant, take it out of the containers and put it in your own. She may never like you. My mother in law hates me and always has. She hates our children too. Some mother's just cannot let loose of their baby boys as no woman is good enough for them in their eyes.
