Eat naked in front of a mirror. Trust me, it works. Each forkfull you eat you have to look at the flab it causes. It motivated me to start working out to lose weight.
And don't try any fad diets. all they do is make things worse in the long run. Exersize is the ONLY way to sustain weight loss. Plus it improves your mental outlook and makes you just feel better about yourself.
Start slow and increase your workouts when you can do your level with ease. At every level, add 1/4 of the workout. (if you run a block to start, do a block and a quarter when you find the block to be easy.) If you can't run, try riding a bike or a brisk walk. You don't want to overdo your workout as you will hurt and not want to continue. The BIGGEST key is moderation. You want to increase your heart rate to the target and maintain it for 20 minutes. Atrat out 5 times a week and when you have reached your weight gol, you can decrease you workouts to 2-3 times a week to maintain it.
Drink a glass of water before you eat also to help digestion and reduce food intake. Stop eating when you are not hungry anymore and don't wait until you are full. If you feel hungry between meals, eat a healthy snack lie some fruit or a slice of bread with peanut butter folded in half. Hunger is NOT the way to lose weight. Hunger will trigger your body to slow your metabolism and cause you to retain fat. 6 small meals is better than three large ones.
Good luck and GET MOVING! :-)

You should go on an exersice machine right when you wake up. Your blood sugar, etc. is the lowest at that time.
Also, cover up the screen if you don't want to see how many calories your burning, your speed, etc.
Listen to music as you exersice. And do 15-25 minutes on an exersice machine daily, take walks reguarly, and make sure that your everyday exersice is fun! (If you have a pet, like a dog, you could walk it more often which will get both of you in shape!)
I suggest going on the special K diet to jumpstart yourself- it gives fast results, but usually you might gain back the weight- though it is a good JUMPSTART to long-term success in weightloss.
I am glad you have decided to lose weight! You are on your way to a healthier diet.
Also, just don't forget... "I'll be thanking myself later!" Keep thinking about what you will look and feel like with a slimmer body and a healthier life!
GOOD LUCK! And don't give up.

Read info on site below. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Start exercising with someone else. Even if it is a 30 minute walk. Once you get in the habit it will be much easier to continue on your own when others are not available. Plus, if you make the plan to walk you are now accountable to someone else, making it harder to back out.
Another option (depending on where you live) is to go walking/jogging to a location. It gives a sense of purpose. Walk to the store to buy a drink. Jog to a lunch location (that will seat stinky runners :) and have a friend meet you there.
Finally, UNPLUG all the distractions in your house. This means your tv, your computer, your radio, whatever! Turn your cell phone off!!! GET DRESSED in your workout clothes and SIT IN A CHAIR. A few minutes of sitting there with nothing to do, nothing to look at, noone to talk to and you will be begging to go outside.

Look to be accountable to others rather than simple vanity goals. If you are looking to lose weight for yourself, you will quit on yourself quicker than if you have a diet buddy or a coach. I would recommend using a program if you can't go at it alone, you are 3 times more likely to be successful if you are part of a structured program. The one I am on is the diet smart plan, www.thedietsmartplan.com

first of all, you have to be motivated. you may want to put a sign on your wall of your goal...a reminder on your cell phone...a quote that could motivate you.. a lot of wanting to work out is mental.. set your alarm clock and within 2 weeks you'll be in a habit of working out and you'll lose weight.. create a routine.
good luck!!
