I mean... so many military bands around the world are converting to purely music-based bands. Why is that so??? Isnt there a lost of heritage? Do some age-old ways remain for the good or must they always give way to the new??

It isn't really new.

In the United States military bands have had show bands for decades. They are used in community activities, for recruiting and in other ways.

Most military bands--if not all of them--keep a marching band capability so they can be used in ceremonies and parades.

I can tell you that military show bands were doing well as long ago as 1959 when I saw the NORAD band perform in Albuquerque. They did a very good show, and I have had pretty good feelings about such bands ever since.
