I think its the pressure you put into crying.
The harder you have your eyes shut the more force you are putting for your tears to come out.

I'm guessing because there is salt in your tears cuz whenever you taste your tears they're salty,,, so many some salt gets left over from the crying and you have salty eyes :P

Tears have a salty quality to them. Don't stop crying, it is a really good release of your emotions.
