My Lab was kennel trained in the beginning... simply because it makes potty training easy, and I was in an apartment until he was 9 months. Just make sure he isn't in there for an extended period of time (I aimed for shorter than 5 hours), and give him lots of exercise. We don't use the kennel since we have a backyard now, but kennel training worked great for him. Good luck!

It is good for every dog to be kennel trained, even if you don't end up using the kennel very much.

yes...my black lab had to be kennel trained because she likes to pull diapers and overnites out of the garbage and eat them which was making her extremely sick....we have to put her in the kennel during the day when i am not home because of this......she also likes to "claim' her territory if she is left alone out of the kennel..we have tried several discipline techniques but none worked so we went back to the kennel!! just make sure he/she has water and food..and a blanky!!!!! ps. getting them kennel trained also helps if you plan to board later down the road!!

any dog can and i think should be kennel trained. being kennel trained has many advantages to it. boarding is easier (make sure it has the shot to prevent kennel cough before boarding though) if you have to be gone for more then a couple hours or if you have guest sleeping over or coming over and your dog is a jumper, or maybe a maintance person.

If you mean that you want your dog to be comfortable in his kennel, then the answer's yes. If it means that he's going to be confined there for long periods of time, then that isn't good for any dog. All dogs need exercise.
Here's a link to help you find a crate that's right for your dog

Good luck!

It's good for all dogs but more so for labs to be when you are on able to watch them. Labs are known for eating foreign articles and having them surgically removed. More so then any other breed.
