There have been several times, that as a respectful teaching tool, a panel of other religious leaders came to my church to discuss the topic "Aren't all religions the same?" and it was wonderful! It truly is amazing how different each religion is and what separates them.

Yeah, I've been where this was done and it was totally appropriate and totally educational and very God-honoring all at the same time.

Yes, churches should let clergy from other religions speak in their services; however, I am not sure that it should be done to further religious tolerance. The common factors between most of us is that we love God and we want to do the right thing and go to Heaven - if the other religion has those commone viewpoints, then there should be no issues. Besides, doesn't the Bible state that there should be no divisions among us - even though there are because everyone had to have their own denomination!!!!

No because the goal of preaching is not to promote "religious tolerance". The goal of preaching is to tell people the truth about God and man and to elicit the proper response of repentance from sin and faith in Christ.

A church that seeks to further "religious tolerance" is a false church that follows the ways of this world and preaches the mind set of men and not God.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

Can I come and preach at your church?

religious toleration commonly ability an attitude of acceptance in the route of human beings's religions. It does no longer mean that one perspectives different religions as both actual; basically that others have the right to carry and prepare their beliefs. From what you describe you're tolerant except even as it truly is pushed on you.

ABSOLUTELY !

Our church does pulpit exchange, and it is awesome. Our last service was done by a Pentecostal Pastor, and he is an excellent speaker. The speaker last month was from the local Greek Orthodox church, equally awesome teacher. Congregations have no idea of all that they are missing by not participating in a pulpit exchange. No one person has all the truth, each has a little. We learn more and more truth, and we learn to love each other more, and respect our differences, too.

The Bible tells us to hear (test) all, and to hold fast to all that is good.

Thank you for the thoughtful question. In my opinion, respect is more important than tolerance. I would prefer that people of other religions respect my right to worship as my faith dictates. That being said, people of other faiths have been invited to address the congregation at appropriate times discussing appropriate subject matter. And in my community there is an interfaith concert once a year, and it takes place in one of the larger churches.

The pastor at our church did a series of sermons called "Jesus and the world religions," and every week we would have people from different religions come and speak..It was very insightful and it was nice to see people from different religious teachings talking purposefully and respectfully.

How about an Atheist at any of those? Or how about a Flying Spaghetti Monsteronian speaking in one of those churches?

That's the craziest idea I ever heard. How are you going to spread the gospel when you've got a bunch of non-believers spouting all their rubbish to the faithful. I would just want to go up there and give them a good @as whooping. I might attend if you allowed us to throw rotten fruit and vegetables at them.
