I do the same...
I've got some really wierd questions that I want to know. I would feel uncomfortable asking a pastor on a Sunday morning. But these folks don't mind. Sometimes I get an answer that really makes sense. They know thier stuff and they don't mind off-the-wall questions.
Of course they always try to convert me, but I always tell them the truth. My ancestors/family have been going to the same church for well over a hundred years. I'm the fifth generation to be baptised there. I enjoy the church and believe in it. What do you have to offer that is greater than that.... They are usally impressed and let me go on my way. Eventually they stop coming arround.
I had a family of door-to-door preachers (An older lady, the husband, and their daughter who looked in her 40's) coming to my house once a week for two years. They would ring my door bell on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
Usally I answered the door wearing shorts and no shirt ( I'm a beer-bellied male and not that attractive). That didn't stop the old lady. She was not going to let my apearance stop here sermon. She would tread through hell just to get a conversion.
She would do the talking. He would carry the bible and the magazines, and the daughter would shake her head to each passage. Nothing would faze them. So I layed on the questions. To my suprise, they had answers.
Go ahead and use them for their knowlege. What's the worse thing that could happen, They would go away? Perfect.

I completely understand what your saying and yes I do try to talk to these people when they come to the door. It is hard to actually get them to answer every question you have for them without having to get the end conversation, "come to church on Sunday's and answer it all for you." they are very kind people just trying to get the word out there but have you ever been to one of there sessions? well I have, when I was a little girl about 11 years old, my mother would make me and my sisters go to church on Sunday's with these guys that came to the door. I hated it only because I did not have enough interest in what they where teaching, very long and boring Sunday's they would be. now I find that I have more interests in god and questioning myself about life
and the afterlife. I try to seek more info on what church they come from and why I should I should be apart of it. I've been to alot of different churches and wow, it's amazing what you'll learn from each. I say try going to church find out what they have in store for you if you don't like it leave right you'll never know unless you try.

i understand for my area that residing with somebody who's bipolar could be puzzling. at the start of the medicine he's taking ought to calm him down and in spite of if that's used for sleep make him sleep for a minimum of 6-7 hours a night, then the wellbeing care expert ought to provide him and anti-tension medicine throughout the day. Hmmm, i do no longer understand what hes on in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it does not sound like the flaws i understand of that rather artwork. because he's bipolar the subsequent time he makes an erratic decision to provide up artwork or loses a activity verify in with you community MHMR (psychological wellbeing psychological retardation centers) they in lots of situations will provide loose medicine and perhaps even loose psychological centers. For actual. I do think of you ought to provide it yet another attempt with the aid of fact he can no longer help what he is going with the aid of. I do believe in spite of the incontrovertible fact that which you ought to take my suggestion from previously. I even have been with the aid of bipolar subjects for my area and that i understand that he isn't any longer on the superb drugs and he can get psychological wellbeing interest mutually as no longer working so do no longer enable that ensue lower back. stable success, stay sturdy and prayerful each and every thing must be o.k.. God velocity.

If I know the know I'm home then I talk to them, I hate slamming the door in their face too. But If I catch wind of them while they are still up the block then I close up the house and play dead.

yeah I think it would be better if they were just real with you, just trying to build relationships with the community instead of trying to "recruit." As long as I've answered the door, I listen to whatever a salesperson or anyone like that has to say. I think you should just be open to them and kind, whether you take them up on the offer or not.

I tell them something like "I am a Muslim" (and wear a turban for effect) or "I am a Southern Baptist" and ask them to pray to Pat Robertson or "I am a Mormon" (if the preacher is a good looking woman I will ask her to become my additional wife) or something like that. They run faster than a hurricane while saying those kind words.

Talk?!? I have rarely had the opportunity to "talk" I have been forced to listen a lot. The Mormon missionaries discuss, the JWs preach. I don't like to be rude so I listen to what they say and let them be on their way...
