Go to White pages, look up names, then start sending emails or call the people that are listed with those names. One of them may turn out to be the one you are looking for.

Yahoo! people search has helped me find many people.
Putting their name in quotes then into a search engine can give valuable clues.
Looking for them on Classmates.com is another good avenue.

There are several different sights. I found one of mine on classmates.com because they registered there to find classmates from way back. (and it is free) Just look for the school that they went to and see if they are checked in
