Nope absolutely not. What Bush and the others are doing has nothing to do with teaching the Bible. Preaching politics in church would mean things like choosing sides in wars that God does not approve of. Both sides claim to be killing in the name of God. But BOTH sides, how can that make sense? Politics should not be in church.

Politics and religion work so well in the Middle East, don't you think? People always LOVE having the Government ram somebody else's religious ideas down their throat, with their own tax money. No, they def. should not preach politics in church. Churches collect a tax exemption for being NON political institutions. If they want to get political they must pay taxes (also penalties and interest and back taxes) like everybody else. Fat chance. And another reason is that politics does not always work out well--the churches backed Mr. Bush but now that the Bush administration is unpopular because of his war and running up the debt to Communist China, religion itself is becoming unpopular, people are blaming the churches for getting the country into this sewer of incompetence and corruption. They would have done better to stay out of politics, as the law required them to.

I don't think so. A few months ago when I was looking for a church that I felt comfortable in, I went to a few different ones. On Memorial Day weekend the pastor gave a sermon on war and how futile he feels it is. The whole thing turned my stomach and I wanted to leave. I never returned to that church.
I feel church should be a place where my soul can find peace. Political rhetoric should not be a part of any sermon. If there is political action during non-church time, that's fine.

Not specific politics such as candidates, but issues such as peace can and in some cases, should be preached. The problem is that some people do not separate issues from the politicians and it comes off as if a church was promoting a specific party or candidate.

No politics is government and secular. If a church preaches politics it has let itself become a part of government and should lose its non-profit status.

Religion reaches every aspect of life- it all intertwines. Most political stuff roots back to religion anyway. And I think they should preach whatever it takes to get people to hear the message of Christ.

Politics is supposed to be a private matter between your own conscience and the balot box. Why influence the direction of that vote?
