Alright, first things first. I was also nocturnal when I enlisted, however, basic definately changed that, so never fear. They will help you with that. What they do is they make you so tired that you fall asleep on the drop of a dime, no fuss, no muss. So you get into that habit. And as for getting up in the morning, give it a day or two, you'll be fine I promise.

That bipolar and hearing bit might be a problem. Don't mention it to ANYBODY. Do not say it, it never happened it never existed. Not to your recruiter, not to the doctor who'll examine you. Don't try for something with a security clearance cause they will find it and you won't enlist at all. In fact, you now have a clean medical history. Nothing is wrong with you whatsoever. If you broke a bone when you were 10 and it healed fine with no pins or anything, then you can mention that to your recruiter. But if he tells you something about what to say or not to say, listen to him. If/When you're leaving the army, see a doctor, get rediagnosed and now you're recieving money from the Army for life for disability.

If you love fighting and exercising, the army is a good place to be. They have UFC here, with an All-Army team. A buddy of mine who recently got out of the army went to that team. He was undefeated on this base.

The army is great for a family, however, you have to be married to benefit from that.

I suggest the army because the army raises thinkers and doers. You chose well by narrowing it down to the marines and the army. The marines are awesome but they don't treat each other was well, and they're more like grunts. The army is the place to go.

Also, when you speak to a recruiter, they won't let it show, but you are in control. You can tell them where you want to go (www.onestoparmy.com), what you want to do, what training you want (airborne, air assault which I highly recommend, ask your recruiter about ASIs for your chosen MOS) and what kind of bonus you want. October first is the beginning of the new fiscal year and their quotas reset so bonuses will skyrocket! Options will be available.

Oh, and please post questions about what to do because recruiters, though they've gotten a lot better, are not entirely kosher yet. Either save my username and ask me personally or post here.

Let me start by saying that I am 100% Pro Military, as far as career options go. I have 2 sons in the military. 1 in the Air Force and 1 in the Marine Corp.
However, I must tell you that there is much testing done in both of the formentioned branches before being permitted to enlist.
Both mental and physical. If you have been treated for bi polar disorder, you may not be eligible, especially for the Marine Corp.
Listing a like for fighting isn't really a good idea either. Not sleeping for days at a time is a huge symptom of your bi polar disorder so it seems that it isn't under control.
Marine Corp training is extremely intense and mentally and physically challenging, and although I am sure that you would excell, I'm not convinced that the long term effects of this type training would be for you. It is a mentally "adjusting" type training that from what I can see stricks with you indefinetly.

That said, you may want to reconsider you thinking and talk to AF or Navy, Coast Guard recruiters. The training and adaptability is much more career oriented. Have you discussed this with your girl because you must realize that there will most definetly be a move involved, likely where you will have no family and friend support at hand. (that was a huge adjustment for my AF Son and his wife). And obviously you will be gone to boot camp and deployed for periods of time, leaving her even more alone.

I must say at close that the Army scares me, the dedication of those men and women amazes me because they are truly the ones on the "front line" and in the most danger of disaster. And have to warn you that the Army career schooling takes much longer because you are deployed longer and more often.

Good Luck to you no matter what you choose, just please discuss a career in the Military with you family because believe me it effects EVERYONE.

Marines is not a cake walk. The Army is a little easier. Both you can fight. I know for Marines you can have a great chance to excel at many things. About your girl, if you love her and she loves you, she will follow you. I think it is great you want to serve your country. Everyone should do it at least once. About the morn, you get use to it. I wake up at 05 everyday now just to stay in my routine. Its Sunday!....
The worst thing I remember about joining the military is the going away not from the family so much, because I have spent long times w.o family but was to go away from all my friend. That was the ruff part. Never in my life I was anywhere w.o them. But it will pass. During boot you wont have time to miss your friends. You will make new ones. I still have ppl I keep in contact from boot..

G,l

If you have any q's about anything that the recruiter tells you, please post it! Some of them are really slimy!

Best thing to do id to go talk with a recruiter from both branches you are thinking of joining and don't let them tell you any bs do you research at websites like www.about.com/usmilitary they have a military forum there that you can get a lot of good feedback and straight answers that the recruiter might bs on you the bi polar part might make you ineligble depending on what the doctors that you would have to see and if you take medication for your adhd you might have to be off of them for a year but the selective hearing everyone has at one part. as for getting up early you might be able to get on a swing shift depending on your job and what not.

I think the Marines would be good. If you are going to do something do it the best you can. I have worked with a lot of Army units and not to impressed... except for their special forces and most of the more hardcore infantry units such as 101st, 173rd, 82nd etc...
If you tell the recruiter "And more details... I'm a mild case of bi-polar, and adhd and have selective hearing" then you are probably disqualified from the get go.

the united kingdom isn't any doubt quantity 2. in case you think of Russia is extra stepped forward than us in any way you're insane. To sparkling some thing somebody mentioned up, the F-22 is the perfect fighter interior the air. The F-35 won't be the cream of the crop fighter that the F-22 is. it fairly is a joint strike fighter meaning it fairly is made extra for hitting floor objectives on a similar time as nonetheless being waiting to work together different airplane. Ask Serbia how nicely their Russian airplane worked for them.

My advice is: Don't join the army. Work for peace instead. To start with that. click: www.tenc.net/ or www.emperors-cloths.com/ This is the same Internet website. also: www.iacenter.org/ is a good one. From there you will learn about many other websites, sign petitions and contribute to peace and justice.
