Students are expected to be in their assigned area at designated times. Failure to do so constitutes tardiness.

Reporting Tardiness

Students tardy at the start of school must report to the school office for an admission slip.

Tardiness between periods will be handled by the teacher.

If an instructor detains a student so that he/she will be late for the next class, it is the student’s responsibility to secure a pass to the next class from the instructor that detained him/her. Students who are late to class because of a doctor or dental appointment, etc. are to pick up an admit slip in the office before returning to class. A student will not be marked tardy if he has an excused admittance slip from the office.

Excused Tardiness: Valid Excused for Tardiness:

Illness;
Serious illness in the student’s immediate family;
A death in the student’s immediate family or of a close friend or relative;
Medical or dental treatment;
Court appearances occasioned by family or personal action

F. Physical emergency conditions such as fire, flood, storm, etc.;

G. Any tardiness for which the student has been excused in writing by an administrator or faculty member;

Unexcused Tardiness

An unexcused tardiness is failing to be in an assigned area at the designated time class period commences without a valid excuse.

Consequences of tardiness are the following:

After School Detention or Lunch Detention assigned for three tardies. and for each tardy thereafter A mandatory meeting will be required with the student parent(s) will be required after 20 tardies in a semester. Once the student has accumulated 20 tardies, the student will not be allowed to return to school until the meeting is held. Students who accumulate 20 tardies in a semester will be suspended for 1 day for every three tardies.

Note: Tardies in excess of five minutes will be treated as skipping.
