Is she eating dry food? That would concern me. My cats have dry for breakfast and I usually see them have a good drink from the water bowl after eating.

Certainly try another water bowl and see if that helps.

You should give her some canned food if you really are aware that she is not drinking any water on the dry food. I serve the canned food and add a teaspoon of filtered water to a small serving to keep my cats well hydrated.

Your cats will probably drink all they need as long as it is available. If your male cat is dominating, a 2nd water bowl may be a good idea.

Make sure the water (and food) bowls stay clean. I usually wash my cats dish when I'm doing dishes in the evening. Water bowls can get scummy if they aren't clean (not to mention the germs) and who would want to drink out of a glass that never gets washed?
Keep the water supply fresh - I rinse the bowl and put down fresh water twice a day.
If it's hot out, I drop an ice cube in the water - don't you enjoy cold water on a hot day too?

I know someone who leaves their tub on a cold drip. The cat can get VERY fresh water any time it likes.

Warning to all cat owners - if your cat drinks out of the toilet and most of them will at some point... do NOT use toilet bowl cleaners like the drop-ins. The chemicals will be in the bowl each time it is flushed and could kill the cat.

I have 3 cats and 3 water bowls. Try and see if giving her her own makes a difference. She must be drinking water if she appears to be healthy.

Does the male swat at her when she tries to drink from the bowl? If so, then maybe she does feels it's "his."

See if another bowl helps. But I must say, that 2 of my 3 cats use all 3 bowls!!

Yes 2 water bowls would be good and always keep them fresh by refilling them everyday. I have 2 cats one drinks out of a bowl and the other drinks out of the tap on the kitchen sink. They will drink whatever is available and as much as they need so don't worry if you don't see her drink. She knows how much she needs.

My vet says the many cats never get enough water to drink, as they are picky about how fresh it is. I have 4 cats & ofcourse this made me worry. I got one of the cat "water fountains" they sell at the pet store (my brand was the drinkwell). It has a small resevoiur of water that trickles out exactly like a water fountain. Running water naturally stays cooler & oxygenated--which kitty really likes. My cats definately drink more now.

The only draw back is that it doesnt hold that much water & I have to add to it often. Plus my siamese plays in it sometimes. But its a small price to pay when my cats are getting enough water. It keeps them so much healthier & reduces the common problem of urinary problems in cats.

Good luck!

My male cat likes to have ice and a drop of lemon juice in his water bowl. The vet approved it so maybe it's worth a try for you. I change his water daily and fill his bowl with crushed ice and add 1 drop of lemon juice to about 3 cups of water.

I think I would go with the other answers and put down another bowl... one for each cat.

Cats like to drink fresh water.
They will go to the toilet bowl and even the sink to catch a drip.
Best suggestion is to keep a cup of fresh water by the sink on the counter and remember to change whenever you are in the kitchen.
Works for many, it does for mine!
