Catholics like to put idols around the church, and they believe in holy mother "MARY" and gave her high respect or claim her as first Christian.
Protestants don't have so many rituals like Catholics and they don't believe in idols in the church and holy mother.

Well, if the Catholics have the apostolic succession from St. Peter, as they claim, then the Protestants haven't a leg to stand on (authority wise) since they were a part of them and went out from them. And are apostates whom have been cut off from the natural tree.
However if the Catholics are wrong then the Protestants are wrong with them. There must needs be a "RESTORATION of all things", to use the words of Peter; not a "REFORMATION" of which the Protestants claim. If the Catholic church has not that perfect line of authority then one would need to seek elsewhere.
It is either the perpetuation of the gospel from ancient times, or the restoration of the gospel in latter days.

Catholic will take tradition over the bible and follow the Pope and His teaching where Protestants are supposedly following the bible only. If they really look at it though, they are following the Pope's and the Catholic teaching of Sunday worship as there is no scriptural authority for Sunday worship. It is simply the institution of the CAtholic church and they do boast it was them that changed it. Anyone that can give just one place that proves the change from the Seventh to the first day I will give $50,000 cash. I have made the offer for years and as yet have never received a challenge on it. Check it out.

I went to the United Church. What I liked about it was the lack of a corpse on the cross. The emphasis is on the Living Christ Spirit, and less on sin and guilt. ALL the catholics I know are guilt ridden. I quit going because I missed Mary. But Paul, that old faker, makes me ill so I'm off christians at the moment. The baptists think it's sinful to dance - tell Jesus, "Lord of the Dance". Mormons believe that some old guy in the desert saw some golden plates with the word of god on them. No one's seen them since but that's okay, they still let old men get the pick of the virgins. I'm not sure if they're protestant but they're not catholic. Catholics are not allowed to talk about being molested by priests. If you're bad, you will be excommunicated and burn in hell. They also believe that god only loves them. United Unitarians believe, we are all one and we are each on our own spiritual journey and each is valid. This is what I believe now. I'm not sure if U.U. could be considered protestant, but it's sure not catholic. In Ireland the catholics and protestants killed each other for generations. I'm not sure why. Might have been something to do with the English invasion? Catholics have to go to confession. Protestants believe that only Christ comes between a soul and god. Some catholics tell their children that when they're bad they make baby Jesus cry. The catholics have led settlement and enslavement of indiginous cultures in North America leading them to the desperate straights most of them are in now. The catholic church is one of the richest institutions in the world. The catholic church ran the Spanish Inquisition. ETC.

There are so many different Protestant denominations with differences in beliefs between themselves that I like to concentrate on our similarities.
Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.
There are some minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.
With love in Christ.

The Protestants (Protest being the operative word) objected to sending their tithes to Rome for the enrichment of the Catholic church. There were some minor points of difference in theology but it will be found they were to continue most practices.

I believe Catholics (and the Orthodox) believe that salvation is achieved through following rites, rituals, and rules laid out in the bible, in addition to being saved. They also tend to value the Old Testament just as much as the new.
Whereas Protestants don't care about all the rites, rituals, and rules--just your personal relationship with Jesus. They also seem to put more emphasis on the New testament.

Protestant Clergy Child molesters usually go for female victims in their teens. Catholic Clergy Child molesters seem to prefer pre-teen male victims.
But there are a myriad of differences between Catholic Teaching and Protestant Teaching, there are several thousand "Protestant" denominations, there are huge swings teaching-doctrine between them, there are almost as many "Protestant" doctrines as there are denominations. Catholics, for the most part, follow the Holy See's lead in matters of faith. (they get their superstition from one main source).

There is a lot more than what I could fit on here, it would probably take a long while. If you are interested in learning the difference, there is a wonderful book out there called "What's The Difference?" by Ralph Ridenour (sp?) that lays out all of the different religions. It's a really great book and it's worth the money.

Prostestants tend to believe in the authority of the Holy Bible and believe it to be the Word of God and the one source of information.
Catholics beleive in using the Holy Bible as well, along with other church doctrines. They pray to saints and go to a priest for the forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews talks about Jesus Christ alone being our High Priest and how He is better than any earthly priest ever existed because He has been to Heaven, came from Heaven, and will call all those who believe in Him to live forever with Him in Heaven.
There are many more differences, too many to list.
