Not true. we have to distuinguish what made the heart stop, natural causes? Was it a brain anyurism that made the heart stop? Was there foul play? Blood loss? many things can contribute, although I can see where you would think that ultimately it is the heart that finally gives out. There has to be a cause of death for many reasons, life insurance, peace of mind, and to be sure nothing criminal took place. hope that helped

Believe it or not a heart does not just stop something causes it, blood clot, Congestive heart failure, plaque, medication etc.. Your family needs to know so you can prevent another member from dying from the same thing. That way you know what to look for. Not everyone finds out so valuable information that could extend a life is lost.

The heart stopping is not always the cause of death. It can be bleeding out while the heart is still beating or stopping breathing while the heart is still beating.

As stated, "cause of death" may be anything from heart stoppage to stopped breathing, cancer, accidents, gunshots, knifings, et al.

Primary reason for "cause of death" is to satisfy insurance companies for payment of benefits to survivors. Actually, that would be secondary. Primary would be to help the medical community in finding cures and/or better treatment for any affilictions.

we need to know what was going on at the moment that your heart stopped. For instance.....was it caused from a disease, an accident or what? The cause of death must be listed on your death certificate.

Sorry, if you are decapitated, then the cause of death is not your heart stopping..

The reason it is more specific is to keep track of the real cause of death.
