I have 2 baby parakeets. just wanted to Know how long they live, since one of my friends said 14 years, and the other said 3. These are totally different aswers, and I'm just wondering what their REAL life span is. Thanks!

Your friends are both right. Some live a very short time, some a very long time. It depends upon their care and the quality of food you give them.
Because the majority of people who have a parakeet for a pet don't do all the right things, the unfortunate average life span of a parakeet in captivity is probably around 5 years.
The good news is if you do all of the right things, parakeets can live 20 years.

My parakeet lived for 13 years. A friend of mine told me that the life of a parakeet depends on how it is feed. Only feed with a high protein content parakeet food plus snacks and a cuttle bone.

I had two budgie parakeets as a kid, one lived for 13 years the other one is 20 years old and still alive.
Any small parrot with a long tail is sometimes called a 'parakeet' BTW. I assumed you are talking about budgies.

Parakeets can live up to 15 years in captivity if they are well taken care of.
My parakeet developped cancer when he was 7, and died shortly after. The vet told me that cancer is one of the largest killers of older parakeets, but if they live past age 7 or so, the risk goes down.

Healthy parakeets can usually live around 12 years. But it really does depend on the bird itself.
