If you're currently going through a bankruptcy then you're not going to have much choice. What you're going to have to get is a secured credit card. This means that you put money into a bank account that you can't touch. The amount of money that's in the account is your credit limit.
There's a lot of good, non-biased information at the link below.
Bankruptcy sucks but you DO survive and if you've learned anything by it then you WILL have a better life when all is said and done. Good luck.

I cant tell you what company to use but i can tell you that i live in the U.S and we just got done with bankruptcy and was told that you want to wait for a year before you try to get a credit card and when you get one it should be a secured one where you put your money on the card and that is what your limit will be unless you add more funds. Also was told to try and get a car within two yrs this will help your credit to raise and be in a good status.

Providian and First Premier Bank usually will give a credit card to anyone. however, just like with everything else, there is always a catch. i believe the fees are $40 a year if not a little more. Try searching for those sites online. you should be approved for at least one of the two. Good luck!!

Never get a CITI bank card. They block it every 48 hours to prevent fraud, then you must call them to get it reinstated, or wait until they call you at 8 am to ask you the previous 5 purchases that may have been made by yourself or your spouse. If you do not know the answers, card is shut off. Just as they discriminate against military personnel that must move often and will not allow them an active card unless they have proof of residence for the past year.

Many banks, including Capital One, offer secured Visa cards...you create a savings account, the account secures the card to the limit of the savings account. The card works just fine, will allow you to rent motel rooms, rental cars, etc....which you can then pay for in cash. But try to rent a car or a motel room without a credit card...debit cards are not accepted. Good luck

CAPITAL ONE WON'T ISSUE YOU A CARD IF YOU'RE GOING THROUGH A BANKRUPTCY UNLESS IT HAS BEEN DISCHARGED.
THE ONLY NON SECURED CARDS YOU CAN GET ARE THOSE THAT DON'T CHECK YOUR CREDIT, SUCH AS FIRST PREMIERE AND ORCHARDS. BUT THEY CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN FEES. $99 APPLICATION FEE/$79 ANNUAL FEE/$10 MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEE..... THAT'S OVER $300 IN THE FIRST YEAR! AND YOUR CREDIT LIMIT IS ONLY ABOUT $500.

I got capital one while in bankruptcy. That is a good choice. I didn't mention the bankruptcy to them and they didn't ask. So keep that in mind while applying.
