I've been living with the bi-polar illness since 1992. Feel free to contact me and I'll try to be as helpful as possible.

Read some of the enlightened books on the subject. Psychiatrists won't do you any good unfortunately. Despite all the money they get paid by the system (or more precisely, BECAUSE of all the money they get paid!)
ALICE MILLER is a good writer on the subject of suffering. She's written several books which have been translated into English: "Banished Knowledge", "The Drama of Being a Child", "The Untouched Key", "Thou Shalt Not Be Aware", "For Your Own. Good" Anything by PETER BREGGIN is good too. (Even though he's a psychiatrist, he's an honest one!) There's also a book called "Prozac Nation" by ELIZABETH WURTZEL (Subtitled "Young and Depressed in America")
KONRAD STETTBACHER has written "Making Sense of Suffering" (Once you get to realize that there is a reason for what's happening to you, you can start to deal with it and grow into the person you were meant to be)
There is also a book called "Broken Brains Or Wounded Hearts" I can't remember the name of the author though, but it would be available from the National Empowerment Center, who's address is: 20 Ballard Road, Lawrence, MA 01843-1018.
The telephone number was 1(508) 685-1518. 1(800) POWER2U. 1(800) TTYPOWER (It may have changed since 1997 though)
The National Empowerment Center would be well-worth joining, because they have a lot of information you won't get elsewhere. (And they have lists of books and tapes which could help) Lots of good wished to you. Hope this helps. I'll be thinking of you. Keep your chin up!!

I was misdiagnosed as major depressive disorder for about 9 years, until 2 years ago I went to my doctor and told him that despite all the medications I had tried, nothing was working effectively. We talked and discovered that it was bi-polar disorder, more specifically cyclothymic disorder (rapid cycling bi-polar). I would be happy to talk to you about my experiences and see if there is anything that I can do to help. I know that being on an emotional roller coaster isn't easy, so any advice I can give I would be happy to share. Good luck and Blessed Be. V- tattoed_pagan_freak@yahoo.com
