In purchasing a new vehicle, NOW, that you intend to keep for approximately 4-5 years, should purchasing a FFV vehicle be a deciding factor? E85 not readily available in my area at this time. Will be hauling a camper. Just looking for some feedback!

No. E-85 is a joke. It is slightly cheaper but you get much worse fuel economy with it. The cost per mile running E-85 is actually higher than running gasoline.

If you're in the market for an SUV and want to save some serious $$$ on fuel, get a new Toyota RAV4. The V-6 version will blow the doors off a Hemi Jeep and still gets over 23 MPG overall. And it has three row seating available. It's far more reliable, holds its value far better than the Jeep or Tahoe, and is much more stable on the road. And it's cheaper than the Jeep or Tahoe. If your camper is less than 5,000 lbs, it will haul it quite nicely.

E-85 is the same price that gas is in my area. Personally, I would downsize what you're pulling and get something more economical as prices are only going to go up. This means that your truck is going to depreciate rapidly. When and if E-85 becomes mainstream, it will still be in the everyone best interest to conserve it too. More demand means higher prices for everyone; and the less each car uses, the better off we all are. This alone won't change your mind I'm sure, but people have been selling the big campers and trucks left and right where I live at deep discounts. This is something to think about when and if you do change your mind. I love camping too and got 25 miles to the gallon pulling mine with a minivan. This isn't exactly an image enhancer, but the bigger trucks and trailers get about ten miles to the gallon pulling their rigs.

I like the Tahoe best myself, have been driving chevy trucks for 24 years now.Wife has driven other smalller suvs and we never cared for the lack of room.So we stay with Tahoe. The Trailblazer is a pretty good choice too if you are towing a small camper. The chevy flexfuels will run both gasoline and or E85 without anything to change,so if it is not available yet you can run gasoline in it.

no, the price of e85 is only a few cents less-the mpg with e85 is a lot less and the available stations is few and far between
