Where my tooth was extracted is whitish and one part is grayish. i know that it is tissue not bone. Is this right? I've been swirshing lightly with warm salt water and I have not been smoking.

It's normal. I had a tooth pulled a few years ago, and that's exactly what it looked like.
Don't worry. You're jaw isn't going to fall off. Promise.
Don't smoke for a few more days (get the patch if you have to), and don't drink through a straw.
It's going to be tender for a couple of days, but it shouldn't HURT like it did before you got it pulled. If it does, get to your dentist. You may have a dry socket.
I think that your'e fine, though. Stop worrying, and be happy that loathsome tooth is finally gone!

yes this is just tissue and it's perfectly normal. The only time you really have to worry is if you have a LOT of pain at the extraction site...then it could be a dry socket which hurts like hell. Keep rinsing with the salt water and take Advil or whatever pain reliever the dentist recommended. It sounds like you're healing nicely.

Your fine, don't use straws either for a few more days, you might get what they call dry socket. Hey and since you hav'nt been smoking maybe you can quit now for good.

The skin will turn some strange colors as it heals. Put damp tea bags over the area, that is very soothing. (I use decaf tea it has more caffeine than you think it does).

if you had a bit of a infection like i did it will look like that plus gaggle with salt and water after eating will keep it clean

yes, most gums appear like that after an extraction...

Your gums might look really gross for awhile.
If the gum isn't overly painful or swollen, it likely isn't infected.

give it about a week and if it continues that way go back to the dentist and complain. maybe he/she did a quack job
