1) maintain a monthly balance.
2) pay regular payments, always on time.
3) you do not have to maintain a high balance, just a balance...I suggest less than 100.00 or the interest will eat you alive
4) when it is time to purchase a car, but an "inexpensive" one on credit, pay for it with regular payments, but I would double up so as not to pay exoribant interest.
5) Limit your credit cards to 1-3, do not use them unwisely, pay all on time as above.
6) once you have a credit card, take care of it, do not cancel it...that is why I suggest NOT getting more than 2 or three.
Doing this for a few years will establish a payment history and you will build credit upon it. NEVER get in over your head...things that you can buy on credit are NOT worth it. If you cannot buy it for cash, you do NOT need it. Save and buy, save for savings sake. Good luck

Use it wisely and pay it off every month if possible. Work your way up to an unsecured card or 2 but no more. Don't be late on payments so you won't be reported to credit bureaus.
Make more than the mimimum payment if you don't pay it off every month.
BE SMART!!!
