This is the first time I have planted watermellon. How do I know when they are ripe.?

first and fore most look at the bottom and if it looks all white with a little green or borwn, then you know it has set long enought to ripen, as well knock on it as you would do a door if the is an almost hollow thud the friut is ripe, if u cut into it and there is no juice running down your elbow when you pick it up, it's probably not ripe and you need to start over.

There is a little curl next to the stem, if it is brown, gently turn it over and look at the bottom. If it is also white then the watermelon is ripe

to tell if a watermelon is ripe you can knock on it and if it sounds hollow it is ripe.
