It can have a bad smell from the ears being dirty, the teeth being dirty and if they have tarter built up on them you will have to take it to the vet to have them cleaned. And the food you feed it can make them have a horrible odor. If you feed a meat based food like Eukanuba, Iams, Purina One or Pro Plan in a few days to weeks the smell will be gone and the coat will be much better. You should always read the label on the bag of food you buy the first thing should be Beef, Chicken, Turkey or Lamb, if it says Meat by product, that is the stuff that falls on the floor and they grind it up. I know that Eukanuba and Iams use the part of the chicken that you and I would eat and the same for the other ones.

You can go to the Purina website and take the 30 day challenge and they at one time would send you a free bag of food to try. I don't know if they still do that or not, but it is worth a visit to their website.
Good luck!

If it still stinks after a bath maybe you should try drying it instead of letting it dry on its own if that does not solve the problem there are some powers or sprays at the pet shop that work wonders.Good-luck. We like them much better when they smell nice.

Don't know mate.
If your dog stinks no matter what, get rid of the bloody thing.
A dog is a dog, nothing more.
People are important, dogs are secondary.
Don't get me wrong. Dogs are my favourite animal, but if my girlfriend stunk, I'd want to get rid of her too.

First check his ears. If they are fine then examine his body looking for lesions. Sounds like he has either a yeast and/or bacterial infection in his ears, or a staph infection on his skin. Take him to the vet to be examined. He needs antibiotics to heal this problem. Along with a proper diagnosis of course. No one can diagnose over the internet. If they do don't trust them.

Change the dog food. You may notice a difference in a week or two. Let her chew bones to clean her teeth. Some treats have chlorophyll in them to cleanse their system.

Supply your little one with plenty of water.

Take him to a Vet. There may be some skin allergies, or fungus of the skin, or some other medical reason for the smell.
