They are not Christians. It is a ploy by the devil to lead others astray. They look like Christians and probably live much better lives than most Christians. Their scriptures are inconsistent with the Bible.

Apart from the very deep and significant doctrinal differences between traditional forms of Christianity (Roman Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox) and Mormonism, the real source of conflict between them is that all Christian denominations are, basically, evangelical, and each believes that theirs is the only true way of saving souls.
Consequently, when Mormonism began in the 1820s, the dominant Protestant denominations from Western New York State (where Mormon founder Joseph Smith claimed to have had his revelation from the Archangel Moroni), to Illinois perceived this new church, with its seemingly heretical tenets, to be a threat for the finite number of souls that needed saving.
Frankly, what Mormons believe is their own affair, but the real problem is the lamentable practice of proselytization, which has been the root cause of incalculable wars and misery.

The answer my friend is in the name The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The church wants only to be identified as "Christian" because it is.

Christians are people who believe in Christ.
Sinsce the LDS church believes in him, they carry the name too.
They have other beliefs, so that is what makes them different.
