Most times I don't but sometimes it is necessary.
When installing a new program you should turn off all programs, but again most times I don't. And when it doesn't work next try I do close them all. this has only happened 2 times that I can remember in 30+ years.

Just be sure the site and software you are downloading can be TRUSTED.

Actually Yes..But..Your Problem Is You Are Not Sure If You Are Downloading A Virus Attached To The File You Are Downloading..
Before I Was Curious In Stuffs In The Internet Then I Turned Off My Anti Virus To Download It...Then After Downloading The File I Turned On The Anti Virus Again..I Check If Any Viruses Are Attched To Any Of My Data & Files...I Found Out The File I Downloaded Was A TROJANS Virus..Then I Regret That I Shut Down My AntiVirsu..
It's Really Risky..Its Your Choice..^ ^
My Advise Is Scan First Your Files..Using Your Anti Virus...
When No Files Are Corrupted..Then Shut Down The Anti Virus Very Fast..And Turn It On.. After The Download...

Some installations are interfered with by anti-virus blocking some activities. Only install what you know is safe, you can disable anti-virus during the install but it should be enabled as soon as possible after. Always check the program you are installing before you install with an anti-virus. Practise safe Computer habits and you should be fine. Good luck!

I would never turn off anti-virus program in order to download a program. However, once the program has been downloaded, scanned, and found to be virus free it is sometimes necessary to turn off anti-virus in order to properly install a program.

You do not have to turn off the antivirus progran to download a program. But might have to in order to INSTALL the program.

Download the program
Scan it for viruses
Disconnect from the Internet and any networks (best to unplug your network cable)
Disable the antivirus program
Install
Then restart the AV program and reconnect to the Internet/Network

Only firewalls and popup blockers usually cause trouble. Some internet programs are blocked by a blocker and unless the firewall either is given the firewall clearance of turned it off, it will block download from unknown sites.

I don't think it is a problem due to anti-virus..should not switch off the antivirus especially when downloading. Check the driver or reinstall the driver
