Motor runs fine when warm but starts hard only after a lot of cranking and today would not start at all. Had motor recently serviced and checked out and they said all is fine. But the motor has never started like it should. Can anyone help. Thanks.

hi there, if this is a pull start, take the cowlling off, pull the choke and look in the carb to see if the choke disk is closing the hole all the way, if not a small adjustment to the arm may be needed.if it is an electric start from the consol, pull the cowlling have someone hold the choke button in and watch the disk, if it closes all the way ok, if not it can be adjusted with a screw on the activater rod, remember to pump up the ball on the gas line if you haven't started the engine for a day or two, also when starting hold the choke button in all the time till it fires ,make sure the cold start lever is activateing the carbs and stator plate, and is in the full up possition when starting cold.

are you using the choke to start it?

does it have elecronics? I have the evinrude etech and I had probs staright from factory with mine for months. kept takning back to dealer finally he called Evinrude and he had to reprogram computer. Now it runs like a dream. could it be plugs are fouled. Magneto's may not be putting out proper voltage.

i had the same problem with mine. a friend of mine suggested that i try premium fuel. now it starts first pull everytime. i have used it at temperatures just above freezing to the mid 90's and since i switched to high grade fuel it runs like a top. i now use it in all my small engines.
best of luck.
