silent running yes actually they are taking jobs i'm a ward sister and the goverment are quick to take these people on but they can't speak english, so i have known patients to die, and nothing gets done about them, and immigration spelt the other way was slip of the finger

I agree it does need toughening up.................

If I was in power this would be the entry criteria

1. Must be fluent in English both speaking and writing.
2. Must be financially stable as all immigrants would not be entitled to any benefits until they had paid into the system for at least 10 years
3. No extended family would be allowed into the country and all applications would be judged individually on their merit.
4. There would be no grounds to enter the UK as an Assylum Seeker.
5. I would compulsory buy the Isle of Wight moving all inhabitants to mainland UK and use the Isle of Wight as a holding compound.
6. I would bring back the death penalty for terrorists.
7. I would also use out of service ships as floating prisons. I would anchor these 20 miles off the coast. Also use out of service oil platforms too.

I actually think some immigration is ok. The eastern europeans are a real friendly bunch and the Aussies Kiwi's and SA are cool too. I might be concieved as racist, but this is what I believe, I would like to stop immigration from Muslim and most African countries. Only those who believe in democracy, civil liberties, womens rights etc should be allowed to contribute to our society. People who hold backward views these things should not be allowed in.

A basic grasp of English should be a requirement and the will to learn fully. If you can't contribute anything and are unemployed after 6 months say, you should have to go home.

End the Assylum non sence completely , people just use it as a free ticket. Should be used in exceptional cases only.

should britain stop the immigrants? well put it this way they do take up jobs that the citizens could have taken but then again the economy cannot grow without immigration. chucking all the immigrants out would be even worse because then the whole economy could literaly crash. but if your angry and want to know why immigrants are coming into the country consider this had the british empire left all the countries in the world alone they would be much richer then they are today and there would be no need to migrate, but because the british robbed the countries of all their natural resources these countries have to pick up the peices and rebuild and its taking too long, so some people migrate here to make money then travel back to their native land and help rebuild it with their money

While the question itself isn't racist, it is one that does invite a lot of racist views. Immigrants for the most part take the jobs that British people wouldn't want. As long as they're working they're contributing to this country. Most EU countries have a restriction on the amount of immigrants they will allow in the country and if the levels of immigration are too high for Britain to cope with (in terms of infrastructure, not racist getting sick of them) then set amount each year would be a better solution.

Immigrants should be exception rather than the rule, If people flee a war torn area they should be allowed to stay here for a limited time, but when stability has returned to there own country they should return. It is more important to find the illegals, murderers, rapists and paedophiles and deport them. The trouble is that If I came into this country from eastern Europe the government will give me more than someone who has paid tax all of their lives. The work that Bob Geldolf and and Live 8 is brilliant as it is helps the people of Africa in Africa so that they can stay there and build there own lives instead of ruining ours.

Hi. I am not English so I shouldn't actually speak here, but I can understeand you.
I've been in England for a year now, but I try to socialize with English people. I know that me English is not perfect yet, but I study. I don't like imigrants who are here and they can't speak English. I am ashame of some ppl from my country, because when I meet them on the street they can't behave. Sorry for that, but not everyone is the same.
I am very pleased I could come here and do something more in my life because in my country there was no perspective for me.

Politicians have to instigate laws to stop racial prejudice in England. Go to a Muslim country, or Jamaica, there you will see and feel racial prejudice in the extreme. Why can women not wear their western clothes in Muslim countries? Why do black people still harp on about slavery? We are all stupid, apply the same rules to immigrants as they would to you. You cannot buy a house or start a small business in most of their countries, not without a controlling partner, 51 percent owned and controlled by a local. If we applied the same rules to immigrants, they would stop partitioning parts of England, calling them no go areas. Make a violent fuss in a Muslim country, demand fair representation and a Christian church, built in a place equal to Hyde Park in London, Loose your life as you demand. I left England years ago and the English that come to my resort, here in Isan, they tell me that England is filled with gene pool slurry, given more rights than any English person, schools that start the day with Muslim prayers!!!! The English are fools.

WELL LETS SEE..............this is a pretty narrow minded question and lets look at it. EVERY COUNTRY in the world wants to close its boarders from Immigrants...so if we all do that then we will effectively shut down the tourist business, the vacation business, the air line business and anything related to those business because nobody will be allowed to travel to foreign countries. Then we would also have A LOT of very unhappy families that have relatives living in other countries where their sons and daughters have moved years ago and married a foreign national..............how stupid can HUMANITY BE if they allow something like LETTING ANY COUNTRIES GOVERNMENT CLOSE IT'S BOARDERS TO IMMIGRANTS!
