My 5 yr old daughter stammers sometimes, all i have been advised to do is stop her and tell her too calm down and then let her carry on, it is working, because she stammers a lot less now.

There is no one best treatment for stuttering. Most early cases are short-term and resolve on their own. In persistent cases, speech therapy may help. Research on therapies is on-going and should be investigated to determine what kinds of help may be most useful.
Please see the webpages for mre details on Stuttering / Stammering.

I would seek proffessional advise from a doctor, He or She may be able to refer you to a counselor if needed...stress, lack or rest and other things may be the cause of this problem, but it is treatable and you can overcome. Good Luck.

Listen to music, then try to sing what you are saying as if it were a song, not a sentence. There is a flow to language that makes it discernable.... go with the flow
