I have been on Paxil for almost 2 years. I have noticed that I have gained a good amount of weight. But My question is....is there anyone else that is on this and cannot acheive a orgasm? When I ran out and I didn't take it for 4 days, I had no problem having an orgasm. My husband and I have been using a toy ever since, and I use to be able to acheive an orgasm in just a couple of minutes. Now for like the past couple months, there have been times where it has taken me atleast 20 minutes to acheive orgasm. I know that this upsets my husband, cause he has to hold his back. There are times where I just tell him to go ahead and release his, and I don't worry about it. Tell me if you have this or have had this problem and what helped. Please only serious answers. Thanks in advance.

I was on Paxil and I am telling you I had the same problem. It caused some serious issues in my relationship, even though I explained the situation he always felt inferior. Anyway, I did my own anti- depressant research and found Lexapro. Whatever you decide to do, please be careful about the withdrawal affects of Paxil.

I had the same problem when I took Paxil. My doctor reccommended taking "Paxil vacations" once in a while.. ie taking 2 days on occassion that you don't take your meds. He reccommended this because many people go off meds because of this reason so doctors have reccomended this so that people continue on their meds and are able to enjoy sex once in a while. I am only mentioning this so perhaps you could mention this to your doctor and see what he says. I know if I went off Paxil for any extended period of time I suffered severe withdrawl symptoms so please don't do that. Just talk to your doc about it. Good luck!

I had the same problem with Effexor, another SSRI. After a few months on it, I became anorgasmic. It's one of the side effects of anti-depressants. Supposedly it happens only to a small minority, but that's not any comfort if you're one of them! Talk to your doctor about it; another medication might not have the same effect. (Then again, it might).

I dropped the Effexor and used St. John's Wort. It's an herbal mood elevator and it worked for me, with no side effects.

Maybe its just stress thats causing that, or it could be the medicine. I was on an anti-depressant where the same thing as you explained happened, but I'm a guy. I changed medicines and now everything is back to normal.

I was on zoloft for two years and had the same problem. I believe all these kinds of antidepressants do this! You can ask your doctor or pharmacist. Or search the web for help!

Supposedly, Wellbutrin (another anti depressant) has no sexual side effects. You may want to ask your Doctor to switch you to Wellbutrin.
