best way is to sponge dry your produce to clean it of anydirt and wetness and when you are sure its totally dry cut it to pieces and dry it in sun but see to it that the weather in your area is not that of a moist or humid kind if its so then use oven method prescribed by others but that expensive too and wastage of energy try to sun dry it and when the heat is about to loose in the atmoshphere bring in your stuff and keep it in a dry place well ventilated and again when the next day the sun is out full put them back it takes time but is very much effective and no very little nutrition is lost god bless you take care
and also see to it if any of the strands of the produce getting bad throw it out so it does not get you into any problem

Sure...
You can use your oven set to the lowest temperature.. set the food on tin foil in there and leave the oven cracked a little. Then you wait.. usually takes about 12 hours.. a lot longer then a dehydrator and you use a lot more electricity.. not really cost effective.. If you cant afford a new dehydrator go to the local good will they always have them for sale there!
Good Luck!

Thin foods such as leaves of herbs can be dried on the counter. Thin sliced fruit can be dried in the oven at very low temp( just the pilot light in a gas range or in an electric the lowest setting, for only 5 minutes an hour.).I have tried making fruit roolups this way also.Cutting thin is the key.

I used to dry vegetables by setting them on a screen set up on cement blocks in a sunny spot. It takes longer but I suspect that was the way it was done before dehydrators were invented.

Instant brown rice, oatmeal, pasta, powdered egg whites, and dried fruits should not be processed with nuts. Dehydrate in any oven or toaster oven at approximately 160 to 200 degrees.
