I do NOT have cold sores! I have never had them! I do get a sore, red throat and red dots on the back of my throat when I have an "outbreak." My doc isn't sure what I have. He's still testing. I blood test said I have HSV1. What do you think I have???? (SERIOUS ANSWERS, ONLY!!! all others will be reported)

Most people have HSV1...it is a forever thing, so even if you don't have cold sores, if you have EVER had them, you have HSV1....or you may just get them in the future.

I think you should go to a different doctor because he doesn't sound like he is helping you much.

Also, a sore, red throat and red dots are generally signs of Strep Throat.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

You can have HSV1 and never get cold sores. Just like some people have HSV2 and have never had a genital herpes outbreak. Some people who carry the virus just don't get outbreaks, it's rare but it can happen.

most people who carry the virus get outbreaks. i think that if u have a sore throat 9 times out of 10 its a strep throat. but if u really concerned maybe u should get a second opion from another doctor

I think it's what the blood test says. If you're concerned, get a second blood test/opinion.
