It is not the pigs that we eat, it is the hogs. Pigs are the babies, hogs are the big ones, they are not very cute so don't worry about them.

We can't, logically.
The only reason the pig is so common is because people eat them, and thus their being tasty has, paradoxically, become a benefit to their species as a whole. If we got everyone to become a veggie, think about it; no one would want to keep them as there'd be no profit, a loss even, for the farmers, and as releasing them into the wild is unfeasible they'd all have to be slaughtered.
Actually, maybe I was wrong; I think after that, when the domesticated pig was all but extinct, they'd stop killing them.

The same way rights for women were gained; the same way racism has been slowly driven to a point where no one is proud to admit they believe it; the same way science largely overtook forced religion in authoritative power--slowly. All social movements seeking to educate the public on why a routinely perpetrated injustice should be eliminated start out small and slow.
The facts are clear: we don't need to quote biased studies or websites hidden deep in the internet...we have the numbers and statements from the USDA, the EPA, the non-human animal industry, major associations of dieticians worldwide, and the list goes on. The public just needs to be made aware that this information, from organizations that they trust, exists. Many people will then reconsider their actions. Try to avoid preaching, try to avoid insulting, try to avoid condemning. Just bring the information and let the public decide for themselves.
And always allow your message to be very simple: "Buying meat, eggs, and dairy causes unnecessary suffering; We can each choose not to cause this suffering."

I don't kill them. I just eat them after other people kill them.
In the "real" world, humans will not stop consuming pork and other meat products. It all began when God killed the first animal in the Garden of Eden in order to use the hide to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness.
Become a Vegetarian and be happy!

to stop the killing of pigs, you must start the killing of people who love eating pigs. Too many people love bacon and eggs.

no more bacon
no more barbecued ribs
no more pork chops or roasts
no more beer brats
no more holiday hams!
etc..
If you honestly do not care to be part of the killing, then simply do not be part of it's consumption..
Some people have to eat pork, because they're that allergic to beef.. if even the smallest amount of beef is ingested, their throat closes, and their body is riddled with welts..

It sounds like the title of a book. A Day No Pigs Would Die. Nothing to do with your question. But that's what it reminded me of.

I really dunno, but you don't have to worry about the Muslim
population killing them 'cause we don't eat pig at all or any biproducts! Start converting people into Muslims lol? That would prolly help!
