You may legally be bound in certain states to disclose this to the person you are sleeping with. Any way how do you no he/she is not the one that gave it to you. You will never get rid of herpes so if you decide to spend and extended time with this "partner" you might want them to know you have this virus. You don't want them finding out because there blood was turned down by the local blood bank. HE/SHE has a right to know. If your partner had HIV would you want to know?

If I found out I had any kind of std I would most definitely tell my partner, because if I am planning to sleep with a man, that means I love him, and if I love him, I do not want to risk his health in any way. I would tell him, because he needs to know that there is a possibility he could get it, even with condom use... nothing is 100%. If I am even considering sleeping with this man, that means I trust him and trust that I can tell him. Plus, if I didn't tell him and he caught an std from me and found out I knew I had it all along, he would no longer trust me ever again and then the relationship is over, because without trust, what is there?

Yes. It won't cause any serious health problems like becoming infertile or even death, but it is something you should tell your partner.
Also, it's important for women to know if they have the virus. Most women choose to have a C-section when they are having a baby because the baby can get the virus, which can be fatal for babies.
**Also, Antoine is wrong. You can not be sued for giving someone an STD, HIV is the only exception. Most people don't even realize they have an STD and pass it unknowingly.

I would because what if one day he wants to have sex with you. Yiu have to tell him because it is a serious thing to have herpes. And then you can spread it to the one you love. And theat would make his life pretty miserable thinking that he can't ever have a sexual life anymore. But herpes is pretty serious I think you should tell.

your darned right i would...honesty is the best policy. if the person freaks out, then they had no respect for who you are.
it's their loss.
if it's meant to be, that will not change how they feel about you.
there are ways to protect the incidence of infection and anyone that is having sex should ALWAYS wear protection, I don't care if it's the next door neighbor and you've "known" them all your life.
if your partner can't understand the fact that you are telling them out of respect, then so be it.

I wouldn't get them because I have protected sex. You can't trust any guy to tell you the truth. A Pill and a condom are the girls best friend. At least I wont get STD's or Aids.

Chances are you would have got it from your partner. If not, then yes I would tell him. You can't go around giving the disease to people on purpose.
