Someone very dear to me has been in cardio-intensive care for a week now. I have learned a great deal about diabetes and congestive heart failure in the past week and believe me....fasting is NOT an option. His only warning signs were shortness of breath. Turns out he had several heart attacks and never even knew! He also was experiencing a lack of appetite and is over weight as well. He has lost about 15 lbs in the past week, but now his heart is in trouble.
As a Type 2 diabetic, he is now on 2 different forms of insulin and they are having a very difficult time adjusting his meds because of the diabetes/CHF. If you contact me, I would be happy to share with you what I have learned and what you can do to prevent this.

Fasting is not a good idea for a diabetic unless the doctor has told you to do it. It can lead you right into the ICU. If you want to loose weight and you are diabetic first you need to know not eating food is the worst way to try to loose weight. You need to do it the healthy way see a dietitian which you need when you are a diabetic for diabetes. Talk to doctor don't play with your health.

I wouldn't fast to lose weight...it doesn't help. Talk to your doctor or nutritionist about what kind of foods you can eat to help loose weight. If you're not hungry, don't eat. But if you are hungry, then eat something like a salad, no dressing (or use a little bit of vinegar & olive oil if you don't like it plain). Diabetics fast sometimes for blood sugar tests, but it shouldn't be done as a habit.

"Fasting" can be done to loose weight but it's not advised. Fasting is a spiritual exercise and one God tells us we should practice one day per seven. As God instructs, we are to work six day and rest the 7th day. This means resting our internals as well. Eat nothing and drink lots of water. That is a good fast.
However, if you're trying to loose weight feed yourself 6 to 8 small meals per day so that you always feel satisfied but not full or bloated. Don't eat when you're hungry, but instead, eat often so you never feel hungry. Slowly, as your body adjusts to proper nutrition, you will start to loose weight. Be patient and stedfast in you efforts.

Fasting is not recommended due to you're blood levels will drop to a dangerous low that could put you in a coma. You should ask your Doc about the right foods that will give you the proper carbs & protien that can help you loose weight.

Yes you need the food to prevent your going into shock, if you are on insulin and if not it could still cause problems with the medicine you are taking.
