OK here we go
1) Why were you close to this needle?
If you are an injection drug user you are at the greatest risk for HIV infection why? Because there are no natural antibodies and good guys to kill it off. In your genitalia there are natural fighter ready to kick ***.
2) As far as that 6 to 8 weeks bull its wrong. The CDC reports that most people experience something called ARS Acute Retro viral Syndrome which begins around 3-6 weeks and lasts for up to a week. During the time you experience a fever, swollen lyphnodes (system wide not local), night sweat and so on. You need to receive a rapid HIV test and allot of clinics give these for free. Your results will be ready in about 20 minutes. Now as far as how long you need to wait the CDC also reports that a significant amount of people will have detectable antibodies ( we don't normally test for the HIV we test for the guys our body develops to kick it ***- a futile attempt) in about 4 weeks or after ARS.

The earliest symptoms to show up are within 6-8 wks after infection. The symptoms are flu-like, achiness, low grade fever, swollen lymph glands and fatique. If you are tested you may not show positive results for up to 1 mo to a year. Have yourself tested as soon as you can, then followup with serial tests, example 1mo, 3mo, 6 mo, 1yr. Practice safe sex in the mean time, because you are not positive you can still spread the virus. If you are negative after a year very good chance you are not carrying the virus.
Now quit being stupid and careless with your life. If you have the need to be so, go play on a busy highway, you'll die sooner.
