How can people eat their own pets? =/?

Question

How can people eat animals period? Well anyways i was at the fair yesterday and at the animal exhibit it showed these cute animals bunnies sheeps goats chickens piglets etc.... by the gate it had a paper that said this animal was raised for eating and what not and it made me sad and sick to my stomach! In my head im like run away guys do something your gonna be eaten my inhumane humans! I felt bad cause there was nothing i could do! I mean how can people raise a pet pig and than kill it and eat it? (or any other animal that was jsut an example) People who eat meat sicken me! >_<

I do not know I'm a vegan to if people wouldnt eat their own animals then why do they eat other ones? to me makes no possible sense. People who eat meat need to realize we are actually all animals and if its illegal to eat humans it should be illegal to eat animals

To me the life in nature is far more cruel - animals get torn alife,
or eaten from inside by parasites, etc etc. PLEASE realize how would a life of a wild rabbit most probably end. it will help you get over from the shock from the exhibition.

well i see what you are trying to say, but well all the animals on the photos except chickens were herbivores - by chance. But what if you have a cat or dog as a pet, you have to feed is meat anyway. I understand that what are pets to me can be on somebody´s menu. Would it be better if the goat dangled from a tigers mouth? Hardly.

Also, i have plenty of houseplants - HEY, should i worry that veggies get eaten when i keep them and care for them??
as i actually love flowers, so then i shouldnt eat any plants, but i suppose i would get sick if i ate only meat and lard and nothing with it like Eskimos once did. well yes, and i love animals, too, so i should end up on a diet of rocks and water....???

And i know people who keep and breed rabbits for food, but still they spoil them, nurse them as well as they could and make their lives happy and carefree and their death fast and painless (unlike in nature)

So every time a hawk swoops down and eats a fish, thats killing a human? Or a lion and a gazelle? Hate to break it to you, but we are different species. I am proud to be a specieist. I care more about my own species than any other. People have evolved to eat meat, and a large number of animals eat meat, so how could it at all be unnatural or cruel. It is how it is meant to be.

You let your emotions run your life if seeing the "cute" animal made you not want to eat meat. Life isn't nice. Nature isn't fair. (Many) Animals eat animals. It is the way things go.

Well, they obviously weren't pets, farmyard animals aren't quite the same thing are they? So they're raised for eating, so surely if no one ate them they wouldn't be being raised at all?

Now, everyone has there own opinions on the matter, and I can understand why some people abhor the slaughter of animals, even though I disagree, but that's life mate. I think to say meat eaters sicken you, given most of the world eats meat, is very opiniated and judgemental.

They are not pets obviously. A pet is a companion animal. Nobody raises a pig as a pet and eats it.
