Real vegetarians dont eat fish. I guess we can't help what people will call themselves even if it does not hold true.
Instead of saying "meat"..I now say animals since for some reason folks dont think chicken and fish are meat but realize they are indeed animals LOL
There is no such thing as a semi vegetarian or a pollo vegetarian etc. It's simply driving me crazy that you are getting some wrong answers when you pretty much summed it up in your question.

I'm not a 'true' vegetarian any more than alcohol free beer and wine is 100% alcohol free (it's not).. there are a few occasions when I feel the need for a little extra protein like in fish or chicken. People are not naturally vegetarian... they're omnivores. I firmly believe that eating at least 90 to 95 percent vegetarian with a little swimming or flying creature protein mixed in is quite good for you. I just look to the overall health and longevity of the rural Asians. Obesity, diabetes, cancer, and many other western diet caused problems are practically non-existent there. I haven't been sick once since adopting this diet. Sure, I can't claim to be a 'true' vegetarian. I'm not sure why anyone would want to be one. But with my diet being what it is, I certainly wouldn't be considered a carnivore.
'nuff said?

This misconception results from the three main types of vegetarianism: lactovo, macro, and vegan, as well as some others that are mixed amongst themselves. Each form of vegetarianism differs in consistency of the diet. Lactos eat cheese and milk and eggs, macros like chicken, seafood, etc. And vegans are strict about anything that's not veggie or fruit or nut. Sorry if I spelled wrong or confused any of the forms of vegetarianism; it's been a while since I studied this information.

there's different names for them. Some only eat fish b/c it's basically the healthiest meat, if they're goin to eat meat for protein at all. Some eat chicken (and turkey I guess) and eggs b/c it's the lowest fat meat there is, adn well, teh best tasting meat I ever had when I was eating meat. But none of the people that eat any of those are called "vegetarians"...there's other names for 'em.

because there are different types of vegetarians. some eat no animals or animal by-products (no eggs, milk or cheese), some eat no animals but do eat the other products, and some eat no meat, meaning beef or pork, and still eat seafood and/or poultry.
it's all about personal choices. God bless freedom!

Different practices of vegetarianism include:
* Lacto vegetarianism — Lacto vegetarians do not eat meat or eggs but do consume dairy products. Most vegetarians in India and those in the classical Mediterranean lands, such as Pythagoreans, are or were lacto vegetarian.
* Ovo-lacto vegetarianism (also called eggitarian colloquially in India) — Lacto-ovo vegetarians do not eat meat but do consume dairy products and eggs. This is currently the most common variety in the Western world.
* Ovo vegetarianism — Ovo vegetarians do not eat meat or dairy products but do eat eggs.
* Veganism — Those who avoid eating any animal products, including eggs, milk, cheese, and sometimes honey, are known specifically as dietary vegans or strict vegetarians. Most additionally avoid using animal products, such as leather and some cosmetics, and are called vegans.
The following similarly named diets are not considered full vegetarianism:
* Pesco/pollo vegetarianism (semi-vegetarianism) — Some people choose to avoid certain types of meat for many of the same reasons that others choose vegetarianism: health, ethical beliefs, etc. For example, some people will not eat "red meat" (mammal meat – beef, lamb, pork, etc.) while still consuming respectively seafood and/or poultry. It may also be used as an interim diet by individuals who are on a path to becoming fully vegetarian.
* Flexitarianism — Flexitarians adhere to a diet that is mostly vegetarian but occasionally consume meat. Some, for instance, may regard the suffering of animals in factory farm conditions as their sole reason for avoiding meat or meat-based foods and will eat meat or meat products from animals raised under more humane conditions or hunted in the wild.
* Freeganism — Freegans practice a lifestyle based on concerns about the exploitation of animals, the earth, and human beings in the production of consumer goods. Many tend towards veganism, but this is not an inherent practice. Those that eat meat generally support the arguments for vegetarianism, but as freeganism is concerned about waste, freegans prefer to make use of discarded commodities than to allow them to go to waste and consume landfill space.

once you start up off you're able to pass over meat - yet you are able to constantly consume pretend meat, that's made out of TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) in case you like rooster then you somewhat can exchange right into a pollo vegetarian, or in case you like fish, you are able to exchange right into a pesco vegetarian. in case you go with for to consume the two then you somewhat're a semi vegetarian. in case you go with for eggs then you somewhat're an ovo vegetarian and in case you consume dairy products you would be lacto. needless to say in case you consume the two eggs and dairy products then you somewhat would be an ovo-lacto vegetarian. to commence with i think of you ought to purely exchange right into a semi vegetarian and notice the form you cope. gradually make the transition from being a meat eater to a vegetarian yet purely be sure you consume 3 servings of lentils, beans etc to make sure which you get the superb quantities of protein (and not animal-protein the two). study up on being a vegetarian first in the previous you bounce at as quickly as in purely so which you already know what to consume and what to no longer consume. stable success :)
