It really is delicious...just not as good as caramel swirl ice cream. The British started it ages ago and it stays around. Most modern pastry chefs have a recipe or 2 for putting cheddar cheese in the pastry dough so that they get the taste without putting the cheese on top of the slice.

I've never tried it, but they do suggest cheese as a topping on apple pie in the New England states.

Hoo-yeah, a slice of sharp cheddar on slightly apple pie---fairly whilst it quite is clean out of the oven. greater those days, i've got additionally tried soft-ripened cheese (which includes brie) melted on top of a warm slice of apple pie. decrease the exterior or "rind" off the cheese, plop it onto the pie, and placed each and every thing decrease than the broiler for a couple of minutes (you like the cheese to soften, yet not run off the pie). Mmmm!

Chedder cheese is awesome good with apple pie. I am from the South, and my mom introduced us to this, but it sounds like it might be a New England thing.

It may not be normal, but it tastes good. Down south, we also have cobbler, which is similar to pie. My grandfather would eat it in a bowl half filled with milk.
