♡In Japan we call 'that fish that kills if not prepared properly'; 'Fugu', it's puffer fish or blow fish.

I live in Japan and I have eaten it quite a few times and I am still alive!(*^o^*) In Japan a "fugu chef" must have a license/certificate to be able to prepare and serve fugu. They must be skilled in the correct procedures for cleaning, preparing and serving fugu. Not just anyone can serve fugu!
☆I do not recommend anyone try to prepare and eat it themselves!!
Take a look at this reference:

Look at some of MY favorite ways to eat 'Fugu':
Fugu Sashi (sashimi):

Fugu nigiri:

ALL are delicious!
The strong drink you're referring to is probably 'sake' - Osake, and you can drink it cold or hot.

It's an acquired taste, I think. Sake is made from a few ingredients: Rice, Water, Yeast, and a mold known as Koji-kin.
Hope this helps!

The fish itself is not poisonous, it is a part of of the belly of the fish that you throw out, which contains the deadly poison. If this little sack is broken while being removed, the fish can then be contaminated and not safe to eat.
And yes I have prepared and eaten this fish myself, it is delicious.

FUGU
I believe you can only get it in Japan, and only chefs that have passes a license exam from the government can serve it. Several people still die each year from eating it.
