This sounds cynical, but we always take something we like to eat. That way if nothing else is appealing we at least have one thing to eat.

A cheese and crackers platter works too. With that, you go around when you arrive at the party with your cheese and crackers and offer them to the other guests. Two things happen 1. You meet everyone at the party, and 2. You rarely have to take home leftovers.

Pasta salad....its easy and cheap.....curly noodles cooked then rinsed in cold water, then add itailen dressing and parmasan cheese, tomatoes and pepparonni (serve cold)....good stuff. Only takes 5 min to make.

Bag of Tortilla Chips with Homemade Salsa....chopping the vegetables,celantra,and peppers is a blast. Salsa is appreciated everywhere.Homemade is unique and everyone loves to try it.Celantra is the key though.And your choice of peppers.Yummy!

take the simple way out...stop at a grocery store and pick up a cheescake for $10-$15 and bring that.
