My partner's grandmother had one of these trays with oval indentations for the eggs and a fitted top to transport deviled eggs. It looked like a great idea. But, she had gotten it many years ago at a tupperware party. I guess I could get one on ebay for future use. But, I have a party to go to this weekend and I plan to bring deviled eggs. So, does anyone have any ideas on how to transport them so that they don't slide around and get all messed up?

I put the filling in a plastic ziplock bag and just take the empty egg whites in the deviled egg tray. Then when I get to the party, I cut off one of the corners of the ziplock bag and pipe the filling into the eggs, sprinkle a little paprika on top and serve. It doesn't take long, so it's not too much of a hassle to do right after you arrive at the party, and it's much cleaner than trying to transport them already made.

Sometimes the dollar store has them in plastic. They work! If you don't find any by the time to fix the eggs, just lay some saran wrap in an empty egg carton and lay the eggs on it in the little indentations. Put a piece of wrap on top of the eggs and close the lid to transport.

Those kind of trays don't hold very many eggs, and the eggs still get smashed when you cover them with plastic wrap. I use a small roasting pan or container that is at least 2 to 3-inches in height so the plastic wrap doesn't touch the top of the eggs.

Don't use the empty egg carton unless you want to get food poisoning. Try a baking dish lined with a clean tea towel & put a toothpick in the top of each one and lay plastic wrap lightly across the top. It works...just remember to take out the toothpicks before serving.

You need a deviled egg plate. Obviously, you are not from the south or you would already own at least one. :-)

Go to Walmart and look around. Target too. There are carriers made by Rubbermaid that transport 20 halves w/ a lid. Keep them nice and neat in place, and stack in your fridge or ice chest.

If all else fails and you can't get your hands on the Devilled Egg Tray, you could try putting them on a bed of lettuce (torn or shredded) on your serving plate or covered container.

The best way to transport deviled eggs is in your stomach.

That is how I have always made them....I don't see the need for mustard........Ok I go by taste so I am guessing on amounts... I mix together a cup of mayo with vinegar & sugar and salt & pepper to taste...I would start with one tablespoon vinegar..then add enough sugar so it isn't sweet..what you want..is tart...but not too tart...You want a balance between the two.... Smush the yolks and gradually add in the mayo mixture until it is the consistency you want...You can scoop into the egg halves then sprinkle with paprika...
