Yes. Herpes can be spread without the infected person realizing they're contagious, although the infected person still must have an active lesion to spread it. Sometimes lesions present without any signs or symptoms, so it's hard to know for sure when the person is contagious. 1 in 4 Americans has the virus, so it's obviously easily spread. It is possible to spread herpes even if open sores are not present. Due to viral shedding, viral shedding can occur without the infected person even knowing about it. i.e no breakout at the present time. Most people that have herpes are asymptomatic meaning they show no signs of the virus. The only way to be sure is to have a blood test. Hope this helps

yes there are two type of herpes and theyare both contagious. Cold sores (type 1) and genital herpes (type2) and if either one is present and oozing then they can be spread if the person does not have them present then no they can not be spread by the cold sore type i know that but the genital one i believe can

yes, the virus is always present and you never know when a sore is developing but not yet visible, more or less an active virus without the visual cue of a sore instead of the dormant virus you expect because there is no visible sore

you sure can get it from someone even though they dont have a cold sore. everyone carries the virus in their mouth, and can be transmitted without a sore present. i think about 90-somethign present of the population has this virus already.

look into this more because allot of my research tells me this herpes simplex 1 is a very common infection.
