I love the first answer, but I like my Boss, so I would serve:

Cajun Pork Roast
Serves 6

2 lbs. Farmer John® boneless single loin Pork Roast
3 Tbs. Paprika
1/2 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
1 Tbs. Garlic Powder
2 tsp. Oregano
2 tsp. Thyme
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. White Pepper ground
1/2 tsp. Cumin
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg

1: Combine all seasonings and rub well over all surfaces of roast.
2: Place roast in shallow pan and roast in 350 degree F. oven for about an hour, until internal temperature is 155 to 160 degrees F.
3: Remove from oven, let rest 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.

Serve with Columbia Crest Grand Estates Chardonnay. Don't have her bring anything.

Now first of all, you assume it is okay for the BOSS to invite itself to dinner (he or she), which I object to. It is rude in the extreme, IMHO.

So, if I want to avoid a confrontation, and the BOSS asked what it could bring, I'd say, "Mexican carry out and beer - but be there by 6." Depending on how much beer was provided, the dinner may last until 6:30.

Highly recommend a chicken dish since the majority of people will eat it, for example, Sauteed boneless, skinless breast of chicken in a mushroom cream sauce served over linguini. You wouldn't want to serve up pork just to find out that they doesn't eat red meat. Ask if they likes mushrooms before you pour it over the chicken. If they don't, just heat up some bbq sauce and pour over the chicken.

Steamed zucchini and squash with a touch of butter, salt, and pepper and a baked pototo (have on hand all you can offer for that potato: butter, sour cream, chives, bacon bits, cheese, etc.) Jalapeno cornbread would add a nice kick or you can go safe and serve rolls. Now you have enough non-meat items that if they don't eat meat at all, you're safe.

Don't have the boss bring anything or tell them to bring anything they'd like but that they're not obliged.

An interesting tip for your conversation to make you sound smart: Pay attention if he or she salts or peppers the food before tasting it. Remember this: Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company used to take all of his upper management interviewees to dine for an interview. If they salted or peppered their food before tasting it, Henry Ford would not hire them. His philopshy was, 'How do you know it needs salt if you haven't tried it yet?' and felt that one's even rather subconscious attitude regarding salt and food carried over into the workplace. Very interesting conversation-starter.

well when they ask what 2 bring you say " bring disert" so aat least you wont have 2 make or buy that but for dinner you want 2 make something easy,simple and most inportantly nice and fancy unless your boss is cool but like maybe a nice spagetii dinner with a special sauce or go 2 the cooking channel they have really good things and they are really easy !!!!!! .............. good luck

tell him to bring everything! lol. baking a sprial ham is super duper simple and easy (although a tad costly and takes a while to cook but cannot easily be messed up). make some mashed potatoes to go with it or homemade mac and cheese. add a vegetable side dish and a homemade tossed salad. and be sure to have some wine on hand (for you to calm your nerves about your rude boss...but not too much!). have iced tea or a soda to offer him. actually, tell him to bring either dessert or wine. have fun! i'd kill myself if my boss was coming over....agh!
