Yes. Normal blood sugar is 70-120 or 60-110 depending on where you live. If your blood sugar is 474 it is high. Was this a fasting blood sugar or after eating? Either way it needs to be checked by a health care professional. Are there other symptoms like excessive thirst, urination and hunger? These are classic signs of hyperglycemia.

Oh yeah!!! Sweetie, it should stay between 80-120, no higher than 140-60 after you eat. these numbers usually flucuate by 10 points, depending on which authority you use.

Please see a doctor immediately. You run the risk of a stroke (which is life threatening, in case you are unaware) and a wide variety of other illnesses with your .blood sugar that high.

Drink lots of water, it helps to bring your sugar down quickly. Also if you have insulin, you may want to give youself an extra shot and test again.

Please do not ignore this. As a fellow Diabetic I am aware of the risk you are taking. You can beat this. Love yourself and take better care of yourself. And remember its not just sugar you need to watch your intake on, carbs turn into sugars as soon as your saliva contacts with it. And high sugar also contributes to high cholesterol by raising your triglycerides (clogs your arteries and can lead to heart attacks!!!)

I won't lie to you. Its a difficult road to to manage your diabetes, a lifestyle change to say the least. But if a lifestyle change = Life, what choice do you really have?!

Yes, its extremely high; that high can be dangerous. If you are a diagnosed diabetic, if your blood sugars are frequently this high, see your doctor and look at more aggressive treatment options. If you have not been diagnosed as a diabetic, you should still see a doctor.

Now, if you just drank a non-diet soda, and checked it 15 minutes later, it might not be so wierd. Test 2 hours after the last time you ate or drank anything with calories. That reading will be meaningful.

Good luck

No food will bring down blood sugar quickly. It's easy enough to test with your glucometer to see if cactus or any other homeopathic treatments are working. None work quickly. Not eating will not resolve the issue if you have diabetes. The blood sugar will keep rising any way with the foods that are in the digestive tract. If a person can not adequately control their blood glucose level with diet and exercise then they need to see an endocrinologist to get the appropriate medication.

Yes, that is extremely high. A sugar level of 120 and above is diabetes. 474 is out of control. Please don't mess with it, but see a doctor ASAP. (Or if you are asking for someone else, get them to a doctor soon.)

Extremely high actually.
Greater than 126 x's 2 random draws
or one random over 200
gives diabetes as the diagnosis
We then try to keep tight control over the diabetics at about 120..
