lt's still being tested on many fronts.It has so many properties,you see -anti-fibrotic,anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory...
Currently,l am aware of 3 studies going on..
One wants to check how good pirfenidone is to prevent flare ups of idiopathic lung fibrosis, another is studying its effects on Diabetics with kidney disease ,while still another is using it to treat Multiple Sclerosis patients.
There's talk of using the drug to prevent fibrosis in Allograft and transplant patients,since it has collagen synthesis inhibitory qualities as well..
Regular wonder drug.
But its safety ,side effects and interactions must be evaluated thoroughly before use.Some studies check the short -term effect and only last for some months while others check the long-term effect and last for years..
Hopefully,by next year's end,we'll know more..

in 12 months they have to run tests to make sure its working OK
