A chicken doesn't ordinarily die from the extraction of her eggs, but fish are cut open to get at their eggs for culinary uses. If "no harm" is the premise behind one's vegetarianism (some people just honestly don't like the flavor of meat), I would expect that they would not eat caviar.

No loss, it tastes like fish-flavored tapioca. I'll pass.

It depends on how "vegetarian" they are. If they are true Vegans, then no, they would not eat caviar because it is a part of a living animal. True vegans only eat plants and stuff that comes from plants and eliminate any part of animal prducts that come out. Now, if they are just vegetarian, it may be one of their exceptions to the rule. I know some that make such exceptions with chicken, eggs, milk, cheese, etc. and I wouldn't be suprised to see that exception made with caviar.

My daughter is a vegetarian and she doesn't eat eggs or caviar. She isn't a vegan because she is always drinking milk, and eating ice cream. Vegans will not eat caviar, and it depends for a vegetarian.

They kill the fish to get the eggs, so it's not the same as chicken eggs as there is an obvious death involved it getting them. Caviar is so wicked gross, I don't know why anyone would eat it. Yucky hock poo ptooey.

I'm a vegetarian and I will not eat that.
I suppose it would just depend on the person, but I don't think a REAL vegetarian would eat that...and definitely not a vegan!
