Yes, biscuits are savory. Check out this link for a great picture of biscuits, as well as a recipe.

Biscuits are popular in the South of the USA, so if you ask someone from New York about biscuits, they are likely to know as little about them as you do!

While it is tempting to say they are like bread, if they are made well and true to tradition, they are really something quite unique and yummy.

You can try out this recipe even in the UK - I can only recommend it!

When americans refer to biscuits, it's just a general term and really isn't specific in terms of flavor, the type of biscut is assumed on context on what the speaker is saying and where the speaker comes from.

American biscuits are breads that are leavened with baking powder or soda. How they're eaten varies by the person and the time of day. They're used in biscuits and gravy and also just served plain with something like Fried Chicken. Some like gravy on them, others like butter, and even others prefer them split open with butter and some honey drizzled onto it.

Biscuits are a favorite food in the American South. The biscuit is a small bread like object made of self-rising flour, butter and shortening, buttermilk, salt and a dash of sugar. After baking the biscuits can be eaten warm with a dab of butter/jam or with egg and bacon or sausage in it OR with a kind of gravy called 'red-eye'. If you would like my recipe I will gladly give it to you. Biscuits are delicious and FATTENING!

Biscuits and gravy is a popular breakfast dish in Southern U.S. cuisine. It is made of (American-style) biscuits covered in thick "country" gravy made from the drippings of fried bacon or sausage, white flour, and oftentimes bits of real sausage, ground beef, or other meat. Biscuits and gravy are also referred to as "SOS."

In America, biscuits are a quick bread. They are a lot like scones, but with no sugar. They are great with gravy, or butter and jam. In the South, they are almost a must for breakfast. We also eat them with bacon and eggs, or stuffed with sausage or ham.

The biscouts are made of flour, or sourdough. They aren't sweet. But they are good, and sometimes buttery. Personally i don't like biscuits and gravy. I do like them with butter tho mm

they are usually light and fluffy and made with milk, flour, eggs, baking powder and a pinch of salt they are baked until they rise and are golden brown....no sugar added....we usually eat them for breakfast with eggs. but in the south where i live we eat them all the time breakfast, lunch or dinner with or without bacon, sausage, gravy, eggs, grits (another story) hash browns or with just butter and honey or syrup over them. one of the best meals here in the south that biscuits are coupled with is pinto beans, onions and a biscuit......they are really good and here in south you will sometimes here them referred to as 'cat head' biscuits the reason for that is they are the size of a large cats head. if you get a chance have one....i know this will sound weird but mcdonalds serves a really good one, not as good as a southern one but pretty close.

What europeans call biscuits, we call cookies/pastries etc. A buscuit is just flour, water, salt and baking soda/power. (normally with individual variations) Cut into circles and baked about 15 minutes. Great with gravy, also with egg, cheese, bacon or sausage patties on them.
