If you engage in oral sex, YOU ARE SEXUALLY ACTIVE.

I have worked with and seen patients who report never engaging in actualy penetrative sexual intercourse, but yes, they have herpes lesions on their genitals. These patients do report engaging in oral sex. Oddly enough, a majority of these patients were female, though no literature has reported gender-disproportionate rates of genital herpes acquired via oral sex.

However, new literature suggests that herpes infections are on the rise because of increased prevalence of oral sex. Particularly, HSV-1 (traditionally oral herpes) is increasingly being found on the genitals.

If you are having oral sex you ARE sexually active! IF FOR example the guy has genital herpes and the girl has oral sex with him then the girl could get herpes on her mouth. Also if the girl has herpes on the mouth the guy could get it on his penis.
This is why it is recommended that the guys wear condoms iwhen receiving oral sex stimulation! If the girl has genital herpes the guy should not be engaging in giving her oral sex.

oral herpes (herpes simplex virus 1) and genital herpes (herpes simplex virus 2) can both be transfered thru contact of fluids - kissing, licking, sharing drinks etc...
it is entirely possible to have HSV2 on your face and HSV1 down south
always get new partners tested before become active, and if you do have the virus, let your partner know since communication is key to minimizing the spread

yes, you can catch HSV1 in your genital area if the person giving you oral sex has it. HSV1 prefers the oral area but can be passed on to the genitals from oral sex. HSV2 (genital) can be passed on to the oral area but it is very rare and if you do catch it there, you most lilely would only get one outbreak and not show signs there again.

Sounds like you would not care what you put into your mouth!

Too, if you use it as though it is a toilet, all bets are off on what might be inside.

I hope you own a good toilet brush and some bathroom cleaner.
