I've been in exactly the same situation as you. My ex husband was unfaithful for a year before I found out, and I was scared as hell to get tested, but I had to do so for the sake of my new boyfriend's health. I could have never forgiven myself if I had accidentally given him a disease. It was a really stressful wait, but everything turned out OK.
Hang in there!!! I'm sure it will all work out.

Well, I certainly hope its okay. Everyone gets worried about HIV testing.
I had a neighbor whos husband cheated on her, and gave her HIV, and then she had a baby, who also contracted the virus.
I know that is a bad story, but I am glad you are getting tested. At least, if youre negative, your mind will be set at ease.
I do want to say this:
Sometimes, people with HIV can have negative results, after being positively diagnosed. I would have to suggest using latex condoms PERFECTLY-
http://www.plannedparenthood.org
if youre going to have sex, at least for 2-3 years with this current partner- or 2-3 years after the last time you were intimate with your cheating ex.
There are also polls that show that among men who tested positive for HIV, about 1/4 of them would not be honest with their partners about it, so please be careful. If you want your new man to get tested, please go with him, and be sure to keep the anonymous batch number, or whatever, kept in a pocket, so that when he picks his results up, you can be sure they are in fact his own.
Yes you have the right to worry. HIV is a killer, (well, if it turns into AIDS, it is) so just try not to have a heart attack in the meanwhile, please, and in the future, it might be helpful to use the "paranoid" approach of both partners getting STD and HIV tests every 6 months, just to be sure.
Keep your chin up. I know how had it is to wait. They willt ake you to a private room, to discuss your results, so please dont be freaking out about that. Its a confidentiality thing.
Keep smiling, and Good luck to you hunny.

i am taking to you not only as support person but as a military wife and a mother of 2 soon to be 3 kids. If you test positive there are things out there that will help you and if you partner loves you then they will help you through the hard time you will be going through and if you come out negative you have nothing to worry about. HEY JUST SMILE YOU ARE IN LOVE!!! :)
