That's not good. That's a symptom of hypoglycemia. If you've seen the movie "A beautiful mind," they administer insulin to induce hypoglycemia or low blood glucose/sugar as shock therapy for John Nash. The symptom is shaking and high doses of insulin can induce a coma.

Well if there is a strong history of diabetes in the family the possibility does exist. Having a low blood sugar reaction does not indicate diabetes. If you didnt have enough to eat that day. It would make you numbers drop. Is she on a low carb diet? The body need carbs to survive. The primary symptoms of diabetes are unexplained wt loss or gain. Excessive thrist or urination. Also blurry version can be a sign as well. She should go to a doctor and get blood work. The most accuarate test for diabetes is a Hemoglobin A1C. If the level is above 6 that means she is diabetic. If its under she is fine for diabetes and just might be experiencing hypoglyecima which is low blood sugar. Which a dr can monitor her for as well

My Daughter, now 29 years old still gets this even between meals. Each year all my kids had a GTT, she has show Pre-Diabetic since she was 7 years old, with great care and good eating habits she still is considered a Pre Diabetic with very low numbers some of the time.
My mother always said "The Hypoglycemics of today are the diabetics of tomorrow". She as been proved right time and again.

Do not let this go by. Have her tested with a A1C test and a GTT every year. Teach her to carry glucose tablets with her and to use them, they are not candy but high glucose to take her out of the hypoglycemia attack. Teach her well and she can live a normal life with it.
Good Luck

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

My daughter gets shaky, and I give her some sugar and she is better, could it be pre-diabetes?

There are 2 different types of diabetes: Type one and type two. Type one is genetic, and type two occurs when caloric inake is much more than the caloric energy you produce (being overweight/obese). Since weight problems can occur if you eat a lot of sugar due the the calories in said sugar, some problems may occur. Sugar is mainly glucose and insulin counteracts the glucose and helps your body break it down. If you're still physically fit, your insulin levels could be very high or very low, along with your blood sugar levels. This would also be a good question to ask your doctor.

There is no such thing as pre-diabetes. You are either diabetic or you're not. There is such a thing as low glucose tolerance, and some people have that -- where they react to ANY sugar in their system by overproducing insulin; but that's the opposite of what your daughter has. She may have low blood sugar, but in a non-diabetic that is most likely from not eating.

There are two kinds of diabetes -- type 1, where the body doesn't produce any insulin, and you have to take it by injection, or by using an insulin pump. The other is type 2, and is most often associated with obesity.

Don M is wrong. There most certainly is pre-diabetes, but that isn't what your daughter has. It's more likely hypoglycemia. Don, fasting blood sugar in the 110 to 125 region is considered by many to be pre-diabetic. I know it's kinda splitting hairs, but prior to becoming full blown type II, I was pre-diabetic according to my doctor and several other authorities that I've read.

'nuff said?

I am a diabetic and i also work in a lab. your daughter needs to have a GTT ( glucose tolerance test ) they use it to determine if you have hi or low blood sugar levels . they will give her a drink loaded with sugar . a fasting blood sugar level and will check her levels every hour depending on how long the GTT is they can range anywhere from 3 hours to 5.

If she gets shaky when she's been without food for an extended period of time, it sound like hypoglycemia. Let the doctors know what's going on and have her checkled completely. She just might be at the stage when she needs to carry an energy bar with her to not let too much time go between meals.
